Prof. Dr. Selmiye Alkan Gürsel, faculty member at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences at and part-time researcher at, has been awarded the “Nejat Veziroğlu Special Award.” The award was presented to Prof. Dr. Selmiye Alkan Gürsel during the ceremony held within the scope of the International Hydrogen Technologies Congress (IHTEC-2026).

Considered one of the most prestigious awards in the field of hydrogen energy and technologies in Türkiye, the award is presented to researchers who have made nationally and internationally recognized scientific contributions to hydrogen energy and technologies.
Prof. Dr. Selmiye Alkan Gürsel conducts research in the fields of hydrogen technologies, electrolyzers, fuel cells, electrocatalysts, and advanced membrane technologies. She has taken part in numerous national and international research projects in these areas and also plays an active role in HYSouthMarmara Hydrogen Valley, Türkiye’s first Hydrogen Valley initiative. The project focuses on green hydrogen production, the hydrogen value chain, and contributions to the development of the hydrogen ecosystem in Türkiye.
